President and Chief Executive Officer, SPX Corporation
I am a technology guy at heart, living in Charlotte, married with two teenage kids. I started in software consulting, with strategy consulting and venture capital experience before moving to operating businesses. The project I am most excited about is with the spinout of our company - we have been able to start a $1.5 billion dollar business from scratch. This included building the team, the strategy, as well as many other areas including our global brand.
How Virginia Tech equipped me for the 'real world'...
great environment to learn and really enjoyed my major (management science) which launched my career.
I stay connected with fellow Hokies by...
regular get-togethers at our lake house.
Something I would tell my younger self at the beginning of my career...
don't always follow the herd, think about what you love and how to get there.
A cause I'm most passionate about...
equal access to opportunity for all people.
Childhood ambition...
[to be a] professional soccer player.
Ringing the closing bell at the NYSE...
is something I did in September 2019.
Living through 2020 has taught me...
how important face to face meetings are and how much I love and miss travel.
The most formative experience I've had...
living in Prague for a year and a half while the country split into two parts.
Favorite Virginia Tech tradition...
tailgates before football games.
